In the age of size zero figures, it is important to remember that dieting is not about senseless diet regimes and unrealistic figure sizes, but rather about feeling healthy and having more levels of energy. Diwekar, in her book, reveals the basics of nutrition and highlights the importance of losing weight rather than one's mind.
Don't Lose Your Mind Lose Your Weight discusses the balance needed between overeating and deprivation of meals. The author highlights the misconceptions that people have regarding nutrition and dieting. With interesting incidents and quotes based on her experience, the author tries to help the readers get better insights into the internal workings of the body.
The author, instead of focusing on dieting, focuses on the importance of eating right. Divided into six sections, each part of the book deals with different concepts related to dieting. The book has been written keeping in mind the different ages and body types.
Section 1 of the book discusses the contemporary trends that people are adopting today and how eating can actually help rather than dieting. The following chapter talks about how we can train our stomachs and have a balanced meal. Chapter three reveals the different nutrients present in our food and how even pizzas and jamuns can be eaten without adding to our weight.
The fourth chapter reveals the four important principles of eating
right. The book emphasizes avoiding beverages in the morning, eating
every two hours, eating more when your body is active and less when not,
and lastly finishing the final meal two hours before sleeping.
In the last two sections, Rujuta explains how these tips can be put into practice and enlists many steps that can be followed for a better life. The final section of the book is Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor’s journey to fitness and her tips for a slimmer waist.
Don't Lose Your Mind Lose Your Weight was published in 2009. The book has sold over 4 lakh copies and was the bestseller in the non-fiction category in 2009.
